We are pleased to announce that Transmag (UK) Limited has just been awarded a further contract by Ceylon Electricity Board for the supply of an additional 30 of our TMOMU36 Metering Units due for delivery in June of this year.

February 2011

(Easter shutdown 2011)

Easter falls in late April this year and its conjunction with the additional public holiday announced for the Royal Wedding on April 29th we have decided to shut our works for the whole of the Easter Week this year.

Transmag (UK) will therefore be closed from the close of business on Friday April 22nd until Monday 2nd May. This means that we will remain open for business on both Good Friday (22nd April) and the May Day Holiday Monday (2nd May).

We regret any inconvenience this shutdown may cause to any of our customers but hope that the early announcement of these arrangements will help to mitigate this.

January 2011

Transmag (UK) Ltd is yet again pleased to announce that work is in progress on a further 35 TM OMU36 metering units  for Ceylon Electricity Board Region 3. When delivered this will bring the number to 86 of these units shipped to Sri Lanka since September 2010.

October 2010

Transmag (UK) Ltd is pleased to announce that they have won a further contract from Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka for the supply of an additional 20 of itsTM OMU 36 Metering Units. This latest order follows the delivery of 31 similar units to Sri Lanka in September.

It has just been announced that Transmag Power Transformers has been purchased by Ultra Electronics Corporation. Transmag (UK) Limited wishes to make clear that it has no connection with either company. As an independent manufacturer Transmag (UK) Ltd will continue to offer its full range of products and services to all of its customers.

Transmag (UK) Ltd is pleased to welcome Mr A M Jayakody, deputy General Manager (Pr & IIM), Ceylon Electricity Board to its Birmingham factory to complete inspection and testing of 33KV metering Units on the completion of its latest contract from CEB. Mr Jayakody will visit our works from August 3rd to 6th 2010.

We would like to offer our congratulations to our employee Arran Powell on his successful completion of a Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering at Aston University. Arran attended his course on a block release basis sponsored by the company.

UVDB - Verify

Transmag (UK) Ltd. has been listed as a registered supplier of instrument transformers on the UVDB database for some time. We are pleased to announce that we have now successfully completed the Verify process as a Category A supplier.

The Verify process is an assessment of the company's practices and procedures for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. The assessment is conducted by Achilles Information Ltd. and the scores awarded are shown on the Verify Certificate issued on completion of the assessment. Customers who have access to the UVDB database can view the certificate online. Copies can also be made available on request from Transmag (UK) Ltd

Balfour Beatty Accreditation

Transmag is pleased to announce that it has now become a formally accredited supplier to Balfour Beatty Engineering Services. The company has undergone a formal process with the TIVA Supplier Accreditation Programme issued by Exor Management Services and Transmag has achieved the standard and been assessed as Gold Status. Balfour Beatty Engineering Services is the amalgamation of Balfour Kilpatrick, Cruickshanks, Lounsdale Electric and Haden Young and is one of the UK's largest providers of electrical and mechanical services.

Transmag Connects with National Grid

We have started an exercise with National Grid to examine older ancillary transformers from power generating stations with a view to repairing and refurbishing them. In those cases where the units have deteriorated beyond economic repair we are supplying replacement units.

Repair and refurbishment is usually the preferred option by reason of economy and also because it means the unit is out of service for the least possible time.

Transmag’s New 24KV Cast Resin Single Phase Voltage Transformer

Transmag (UK) Limited is pleased to announce the first sales of its new 24KV single phase cast resin voltage transformer to BS EN 60044-2. Available with single, double or triple secondary windings. A downloadable data sheet in PDF format will shortly be available on this website. In the meantime we will be pleased to deal with any enquiries you may have for this product.

Supplier Open Days

We are pleased to have been invited to Supplier Open Days held by Brush Turbogenerators in June and Hawker Siddeley Switchgear in August. Our thanks go to both companies for interesting and informed presentations and discussions. In our view such events are extremely useful in fostering a better understanding of our customers needs by improving the communication process. Our thanks also go to all our employees whose efforts in meeting our clients’ requirements are instrumental in our success.

Equipment

Transmag (UK) Ltd. has re-commissioned its Ruff RW55 toroidal winding machine which increases its capacity to wind large ring type current transformers up to 900mm in diameter

Special Windings

Transmag (UK) Ltd. has recently completed the rewinding of three large heating induction coils used in titanium furnaces for Birmingham Engineering Services. As these coils are immersed in water to cool them when in service great care has to be taken when sinding to maintain the integrity of the wire covering.

Quality Management System

Transmag (UK) Ltd. has successfully completed its annual assessment by BSI in respect of its BS EN ISO9001:2000 certification and re-certification confirmed.
